One Year Ago

It was exactly a year ago. September 30, 2013. I was a four month old pup hanging out at the breeder's house when an Asian couple came in. I knew they were my mommy and daddy from the moment I saw them. After a nap in the back of a Prius I woke up in an exotic land called Glendale.

My first night with my parents.

This was no longer Lancaster but also God's blessings at work. I made so many new happy friends from the moment I stepped paw in Glendale as soon as I got over my fear of the loud big city noises.

But little did I know that my balls would come into play. You see, the breeder didn't tell my parents about a strange condition I was born with. My balls were kinda stuck in my stomach. Maybe that's why I stayed around. Why would a breeder let a handsome puppy like me go off? By the time my parents found out, a few days later it was too late. We were already family.

The issue remained though, with my balls stuck in tummy, it would be cancerous and my broke daddy doesn't have enough money for a costly procedure. A few days later, a blessing happened. While daddy brought me to work, we met Doc Felix Lapuz a very active Filipino community member and a well respected veterinarian. A few months later, Doc Felix not only did the rare surgery at a low price, but all the money spent, was given to the ABS-CBN Foundation. Perfect timing because in November the terrible Typhoon Yolanda happened.

Daddy says my balls saved the Philippines.

It's amazing how God works. When you think about it, I would've ended up nowhere with the breeder. I'm useless to her, with my testicle disorder. But when I was blessed with my parents, it saved my life and opened the door for me to help others.

And while the surgery was a one time deal, my parents say everyday that I'm a blessing, making people, even strangers happy.

Just recently I've kept my Lolo (grandpa) company while he recovered from his small heart attack. It makes me happy when I can help others and see other people and animals happy. It's amazing where life takes you. It's been one year since I found a home with these Filipino people, and in that year, it's just been countless miracles every day.
